The essence of social research in local government in Poland

Streszczenie: W artykule wskazano na rolę badań społecznych w jednostkach samorządu terytorialnego w Polsce. Przedstawione zostały przy tym podstawowe metody badań oraz techniki i narzędzia badawcze, które mają zastosowanie także w badaniach na rzecz samorządu. Należy zwiększać świadomość przedstawicieli władz samorządu w zakresie potrzeby badań i być może nawet dostosować system prawny, aby badania służyły zmianom na lepsze.

Abstract: The article indicates the role of social research in local government units in Poland. In addition, the purpose of the publication is to discuss the most common methods of scientific research, including those that are used in research conducted for local government offices. The awareness of local government representatives regarding the need for research should be increased as well as the legal system should be adjusted so that research serves changes for the better.
