The penitentiary determinants of prisoners education in Poland (from literacy to lifelong learning)

Abstract: The article presents the problems of penitentiary education in Poland after 1918. In the past the literacy of prisoners was the main problem. Currently, prisoners can learn in equal types of schools in prisons and outside. They can also pursue higher education. Prisoners education is a lifelong learning process.
