Studying from the perspective of students in the changing academic reality

Streszczenie: Współczesny uniwersytet podlega intensywnym przeobrażeniom, wobec których zmienia się nie tylko formalna organizacja procesu kształcenia, ale także atmosfera współdziałania uczestników edukacji. Celem artykułu jest poznanie osobistych refleksji studentów Uniwersytetu Kazimierza Wielkiego w Bydgoszczy, dotyczących doświadczeń procesu studiowania. Na podstawie analizy wywiadów jakościowych, przeprowadzonych z 30 studentami, można zauważyć, iż osoby badane postrzegają studia jako znaczący etap własnego życia, który wyznacza granice pomiędzy okresem dorastania a dorosłością. Studiowanie rozpatrują w trzech wymiarach, a mianowicie intelektualnym, ekonomicznym i społecznym, a uzyskany dyplom szkoły wyższej stanowi dla nich możliwość osiągnięcia wyższego statusu socjoekonomicznego. Badani studenci od nauki na uniwersytecie oczekują przede wszystkim wiedzy praktycznej, podkreślając, że program nauczania zawiera zbyt dużo treści teoretycznych.

Abstract: A modern university is undergoing intense transformations, towards which not only the formal organization of the education process is changing, but also the atmosphere in which the cooperation of education participants takes place. The aim of the article is to learn about the personal reflections of students of the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz about the experiences of the study process. Based on the analysis of qualitative interviews conducted among 30 students, it can be seen that the respondents perceive studies as a significant stage of their own lives, which sets the boundaries between adolescence and adulthood. They consider studying in three dimensions, namely intellectual, economic and social, and the obtained diploma of a university provides them with the opportunity to achieve a higher socioeconomic status. The surveyed students expect practical knowledge from university, emphasizing that the curriculum contains too much theoretical content.
